Runes

Runes are an ancient Germanic alphabet, used for writing, divination and magick. The word “Rune” itself means “mystery” or “secret”. Many people use runes as a divination tool, sometimes called “rune casting”. In Rune Casting, each Rune has a letter inscribed on it, which is translated into a word or phrase representing forces of nature and man. Runes can be made of stone, wood, bones, glass and more. The inscription on the Runes and number of Runes may vary, according to which alphabet is used. Runes of the "Elder Futhark" contain 24 runes, and Runes of the “Younger Futhark” (or Scandinavian Fuþark) have only 16 runes. The Runes are associated with the Norse God “Odin”, who hung from the world tree called “Yggdrasil” for nine days and nights in order to gain the knowledge of runes.
